THE BOARD

The Board of Directors are responsible for the strategic direction of the organisation and its governance. The Board brings a diverse and extensive set of skills, knowledge and experiences to the organisation. All directors are also major shareholders of the company.

Darren Cooper 

CHAIR

With a thriving three-decade career in banking and property, Darren currently oversees multiple board positions, including Chair of two ASX-listed firms and Non-Executive Director of a third. He holds the Chairmanship at DevelopmentWA, a significant WA State Government Trading Enterprise, and leads the Advisory Board of a private civil engineering enterprise. Additionally, he chairs the Investment Committee for a Melbourne-based property development and investment business. Alongside his board commitments, Darren offers investment, advisory, and strategic services across diverse industries. He is a holder of a Bachelor's in Valuation and Land Economics from Curtin University, a Masters in Applied Finance from Macquarie University, and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

DR GEOFF RABY AO

DIRECTOR

Geoff brings an impeccable track record to the Board of Legend, having been Australia’s Ambassador to China between 2007 and 2011.  Prior to this he held a number of roles within the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade including Head of the Chinese Embassy's economics division (1986–1991), Head of the Northeast Asia Analytical Unit (1991–1993), First Assistant Secretary, Trade Negotiations Division (1995–1998), Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organization (1998–2001) and First Assistant Secretary, International Organisations and Legal Division (2001–2002), Ambassador to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum (2002–2004), and a Deputy Secretary of the Department (2002–2006).  Geoff was also previously on the Board of Fortescue Metals Group (2011 -2017).

 

Geoff’s other current roles include Chairman and Founder of Geoff Raby and Associates, a Beijing-based corporate advisory firm providing strategic advice and analysis on China. He is also a Non-Executive Director of ASX and HKSX listed Yancoal and ASX and TSX listed OceanaGold.  Geoff chair’s the Vice Chancellor’s International Advisory Board at Murdoch University’s, is Chair VisAsia at the Gallery of NSW and a member of the Board of the Gavan Foundation.

YU-HSIU CAMILLE CHEN

DIRECTOR / EXECUTIVE CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Camille has 15+ years international co-production and creative content delivery experience, as writer, producer and director operating in both China and Australia. Camille has sophisticated knowledge of Asian markets, including Asian cultural values and mindsets. Her award-winning debut feature film Little Sparrows (2010) was described as “nuanced and heartrending”, “intelligently conceived” and “brilliantly written."

 

As the Executive Creative Director, Camille is responsible for developing and building Legend's film and television project pipelines and creating new growth opportunities.

Paul LAKERY

DIRECTOR

With over 30 years of experience in property development and construction, Paul has held diverse leadership roles with developers, design consultants, contractors, and project management experts. His oversight extends to a variety of projects, including masterplanned communities, residential complexes, housing developments, apartments, and mixed-use hotels, spanning across Australia, the UK, Europe, and the Middle East. Currently, Paul is a Non-Executive Director and Board member for Foundation Housing, a not-for-profit community housing provider. He has also recently served as a Non-Executive Director on several Western Australian State Government Boards, including Development WA, Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority, and Landcorp.
